CAIRATE – The hearing for the evidentiary incident regarding the six cell phones seized after the murder of Andrea Bossi, 26 years old, murdered with a stab wound to the neck on the night between 26 and 27 January in his apartment in via Mascheroni in Cairate. Apple’s experimentation on new software causes the accident to be postponed, without blame, by about a month.
The suspects
For the murder of the young man, in the space of just one month, the Carabinieri of the Sstation of Fagnano Olona and of the Busto Arsizio company, coordinated by the public prosecutor of Busto Francesca Parolathey arrested Douglas Carolo, 21 years of SamarateAnd Michele Caglioni20 years of Cassano Magnago. Of the six cell phones under scrutiny, two belong to Bossi, among these there is also the one destroyed on the night of the murder and then found by Caglioni who immediately collaborated, one belongs to Caglioni, one belongs to Carolo, the remaining two belong to two people belonging to the victim’s circle of friends and alleged killers.
Apple’s experimentation
And that’s right Carolo’s iPhone to have given problems to the experts. In a nutshell: Apple is asking some users to participate in testing new software. Of these, based on the satisfaction of the sample of selected users, some are implemented. Others are abandoned because they are not performing well enough. A sort of market survey to choose what to invest in in the future. Carolo’s iPhone was part of this experimentation. For this reason, at the time of the assignment, the analysts did not have the right software to make a forensic copy of the contents of the cell phone. Apparently, however, there is a tutelary deity who protects justice: the type of experimentation to which Carolo joined has been implemented and updated by Apple. For this reason the evidentiary incident will take place, only postponed by a month. The time needed to have the right “language” to make a forensic copy of the contents of the mobile phone.
The crux of relationships
Cell phone analysis is essential, firstly, to establish what relationships there were between those involved in the murder. To establish, in the second step, who between Carolo and Caglioni really knew the victim. According to what has been ascertained up until now it would have been Carolo who had a direct friendship with Bossi. Not only: Caglioni and Carolo accuse each other. Caglioni, the first to collaborate, said he didn’t know why Carolo asked him to accompany him to Bossi that night.
Fundamental analysis
He said he remained in the street while the 21-year-old went up to the house. He said he entered the apartment after the murder had occurred and saw Carolo extract the knife from the victim’s neck. He said he hadn’t spoken because Carolo threatened him every day. Now, in light of all this, examining the contents of the 21-year-old’s cell phone is fundamental. First: if Carolo really sent a message or called Caglioni asking him to come up, the fact would confirm the latter’s version. And again: if Caglioni had been threatened as he claimed, there should be traces of all this on Carolo’s phone. Fortunately, the problem could be resolved within a month. The hearing before investigating judge Piera Bossi is set for 12 July.
