widespread artistic event in Santa Teresa dei Maschi

BARI – On Saturday 8 June 2024 the Church of Santa Teresa dei Maschi and the surrounding streets, in the historic center of Bari, will be animated by the widespread and participatory artistic event “In the light of the sun”.

From 10am to 8.30pm there will be alternating artistic exhibitions, a traveling performance and an exhibition. The initiative is promoted by the participation process proposed by the Department of Humanistic Research and Innovation of the University of Bari and financed by Puglia Partecipa, in partnership with the Federico II Eventi and Vallisa Cultura Associations, and in collaboration with Aendor Studio and Imperfetta Project.

The event is aimed at citizens and tourists of all ages. The intent is to immerse the participants in the evocative atmosphere of the small square overlooking the Church of Santa Teresa dei Maschi which, with the dense network of streets that envelop it in the heart of old Bari, represents the ideal map, the place of intersection and dialogue between different perceptions and perspectives on the world. Art will act as a guide: with a view to sharing public space, the artists involved, including painters, performers and sculptors, will follow different expressive lines, guiding the participants on multifaceted paths.

The program, in detail, includes: from 10 am to 5 pm the outdoor creation of works of art and a public art exhibition curated by Miguel Gomez and the Bibart Santa Teresa Center; from 5.30pm to 6.30pm a performative itinerary entitled “Ariadne’s Thread”, on the theme of social and gender inclusion, with three meeting points in the old city (Piazza Mercantile, Piazza del Ferrarese and Cathedral) and destination Santa Teresa dei Maschi, curated by Nilde Mastrosimone, Anna Maria Faraone, Biagio Monno in collaboration with Aendor Studio and Imperfetta Project; finally, from 7pm to 8.30pm, it will be possible to visit the art exhibition “Italian Masters of the 20th and 21st centuries” at the church of Santa Teresa dei Maschi.
Participation is free and does not require reservations.
