An edition that broke many new records, confirming a formula that meets with the favor and interest of the school world. The XXII edition of Chroniclers in class has in fact marked a further growth in the number of participating schools and classes that have challenged each other with investigations. But the number of sponsors and partners who supported the initiative has also increased. The confirmation, once again, comes from the numbers. The 2023-24 edition saw – in the area of the three newspapers of our editorial group, namely La Nazione, il Resto del Carlino and Il Giorno – over 500 schools involved, equal to more than a thousand classes registered in the initiative for a total of over 23 thousand students from Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Marche, Umbria and the province of La Spezia who animated the initiative. The numbers relating to La Nazione are also very good. Overall, over 230 schools signed up for Cronisti in Classe, 440 classes for a total of 9 thousand students involved. For Florence 70 classes and over 1300 students. Important numbers, referable to the territories where our newspaper is traditionally distributed, namely Tuscany, Umbria and the province of La Spezia.
Florence, 7 June 2024 – They faced each other with investigations and interviews, wrote articles, took photos and produced drawings. And in the end they created authentic newspaper pages, published on The nation during the winter and spring to arrive in May and celebrate with the awards held in each city of our distribution area, i.e. Tuscany, Umbria and the province of La Spezia. They are the protagonists of Journalism ChampionshipXXII edition, the reporters in the classroom – of the 4th and 5th of Primary and of the entire cycle of lower secondary school – who once again animated a compelling and exciting challenge this year, demonstrating critical spirit, attention and the ability to question themselves to the challenges and great themes of our times and of life in their cities.

A cultural and educational project which, having grown in numbers, sees the patronage of the presidency of regional council of Tuscany and the operational support ofRegional school office from the Tuscanywhich closely followed the schools and young people who attempted this exciting undertaking.
The children, under the guidance of their teachers, approached the profession of journalist and put themselves to the test by documenting and verifying facts and news which they then wrote in the newspaper. The result was excellent enough to put the qualified jury – chaired by – to the test Agnese Pinidirector of Qn, La Nazione, il Resto del Carlino and Il Giorno – called to evaluate the proposed works.
And all the pages published on paper were also reproduced on the dedicated website (www.cronistiinclasse.it) where it was possible to vote for each article to decide, city by city, the favorite pages on the web. Additional guides and work tools organized for primary and lower secondary schools are also available on the site. From this year, a section entirely dedicated to education and road safety was also active with a teaching guide and two interactive sheets.
Over the last month, awards ceremonies were held in each city in the presence of institutions, bodies, associations and of course the sponsors, the partners who share and support the project and its aims. Indeed, numerous sponsors had in turn proposed to the schools tracks and themes to follow on some of the great challenges of our times (sustainability, defense of the environment and natural resources, waste recovery, food education, inclusion, digital cities, volunteering) and they offered additional prizes for those schools that then followed the proposed suggestion and developed it in a critical and original way.
The Journalism Championship is held in collaboration with the team of Marketing And Speed (the advertising sales agency of our publishing group) and sees the support and participation of important regional and local sponsors who share the educational aims of the project. Many traveling companions, who are all protagonists in this 96-page Special insert, to be read and kept. Interviews and interventions are dedicated to all of them which shine a spotlight on the meaning of their participation and on the projects developed together with the world of school.
