Elections in Rimini, the bishop’s appeal: “Guys, go and vote”

In view of the elections once the school year is over, the bishop of Rimini Nicolò Anselmi wrote an open letter to young people. “These days in Emilia-Romagna, and with different variations in the rest of Italy, schools of all levels are ending. As bishop and as a citizen I wanted to thank all the teachers, teachers and professors, from nursery schools to elementary schools, from middle schools to high schools, professional schools and even universities for the enormous service they provide to the young generations and to our country. Thanks also to the parents who got involved in this school year and in the educational journey. They are primarily responsible for the education of their children.

Thanks to the kids themselves who have studied and are preparing and are committed to building a better future and an ever better and more beautiful Italy, especially for fragile people and the many, many difficult situations.

For some, in reality, this bell was not the last of 2023-24: the children taking the eighth grade exam, the young people expected to take their final exams and those struggling with university exams. I send warm wishes to everyone and guarantee a prayer: we want to accompany you in these further challenges with closeness and affection.

This transition which leads to an increase in age is also given by the occasion of the administrative and European elections which will take place on Saturday and Sunday in many municipalities in the province of Rimini (and Italy) and throughout Europe. I take the liberty of inviting young people to go and vote, it is an exercise in co-responsibility, a feeling involved in the common good. Politics is a high form of charity, because it thinks of the good of everyone and of the most fragile. I would also like to encourage and thank those who are involved in politics, the Christians who dedicate themselves to carrying out this service and all those who aspire to the common good: may they be able to overcome every division to put their neighbor at the center – according to the heart of Jesus , the person, especially the weakest. Thank you all, have a good end of school, have a good start of the summer, good grades and good political commitment.”
