PERUGIA – On the eve of the European elections, the final call to the candidates comes from Cia-Italian Farmers of Umbria. A letter appealing, first of all, to go and vote. «No other European citizen, like the farmer, is aware of the importance that Europe has and how since its birth it has financed and supported the agricultural and agri-food sector. The vote of each of us is a fundamental piece in building a fairer and more sustainable future and giving strength to a stronger, united Europe.” The invitation comes from Matteo Bartolini, president of Cia Umbria and national vice president.
«The European Union represents an essential driving force for sustainable progress. From environmental protection to climate policy, from renewable energy to the conservation of our natural resources, the EU has demonstrated that it can lead the world towards a greener and fairer future.
To achieve true socio-economic progress, a united Europe is needed, without the veto power of the individual member state which is often only useful for national electoral purposes. Collaboration and solidarity between member countries are essential to overcome common challenges and ensure inclusive economic growth. Only a cohesive Europe can effectively address inequalities and promote the well-being of all its citizens.
To face the epochal challenges of the environmental and energy transition, an ambitious, adequate and up to expectations European budget is needed. That is, a budget useful for significant investments to accelerate innovation, support local communities and guarantee a transition and economic opportunities for all.”
