Prato, 6 June 2024 – Change in leadership of the women’s section of the Misericordia of Prato. After thirty-two years Maria Petrà leaves the presidency and in its place it was Donatella Luchetti elected. For this organization, established in 1982 to broaden participation in active service to women, this is therefore an important change, which will certainly open a new phase. “Maria, with her experience and her advice, will remain with us and will continue to lend us a hand in the many activities that we carry out as the women’s section”, says Donatella Luchetti, who expresses great gratitude for what the historic president has done over the course of thirty years. Here is the composition of new board of directors: Elisabetta Mazzetti (vice president), Daniela Daly, Elisabetta Ferroni, Teresa Moretta, Cezarina Mjeda, Lia Pecchioli, Rosita Bellocci, Silvana Neri, Marta Rivieri, Donatella Luchi.
The new president, a civil lawyer by profession, boasts a long membership in the Misericordia and in particular in the women’s section, of which she has been a part since its inception, when her father-in-law Silvano Bambagioni, then proposed, proposed that she be part of the founding group, led by Margherita Sanesi, who later became the first president. Among the main activities to help and support others, implemented by the women’s section, there are the Telephone Friend Italy, a listening service that hundreds of people turn to every day in search of a word of comfort. after-school care at the headquarters in via Convenevole, home care for the elderly or disabled, entertainment in retirement homes (an activity much appreciated by residents of the RSAs) and presence in the hospital to assist single and non-self-sufficient patients. “This last service in the hospital is suspended for now, we stopped due to the pandemic, but we plan to resume it, together with the opening of the toy library and the library, as soon as possible”, adds Donatella Luchetti. “Anyone, even men! – says the president – and it is fundamental to say that everyone can give as much as possible; even if it might seem little, I can say that every contribution is precious,” she concludes.
