at Real Sebastiani Rieti announces that he has reached an agreement with the playmaker Diego Monaldi. The player from Udine is the first shot in the Sebastiani transfer market for 2024/2025 and has signed a two-year contract until 06/30/2026. He will wear the number 30 shirt.
Monaldi was born on 3 April 1993 in Aprilia. With the team from his hometown, Virtus Aprilia, he took his first steps in the world of basketball but was immediately noticed by Virtus Roma who took him into their youth sector. He played with the Giallorossi for two years before moving to Mens Sana Siena where he won two championships in the youth sector, in 2008 the U15 and in 2010 the U17. He also made his first team debut with the Tuscan team, and was among the winners of a scudetto, an Italian Cup and an Italian Super Cup. After years on loan between Florence, Casale, Bari and Reggio Calabria he settled in Chieti in A2. With the Abruzzo team he maintained, in two years, the average of 12.6 points per lace up. These performances allowed him to return to the top flight in the 2016/2017 season, first at Dinamo Sassari and then at Pesaro, where he remained for two years. With the Marche team he averaged 18 minutes played per game and contributed to the two saves for Victoria Libertas. He drops back to A2, in Naples, in the 19-20 season (interrupted by Covid) he averages 12.3 points in 26 appearances, while in the 20-21 season he wins the Italian Cup and the championship as captain with the Neapolitans. The following season he signed with Scafati, scored 9.5 PPP and under coach Ale Rossi won his second consecutive Legadue championship. He starts the 2022/2023 A1 championship with Scafati before moving to Udine where he has played in the last two years as a starting point guard with 11 points scored per game. Now Rieti and Sebastiani, together again with Coach Rossi to face a championship, the 2024/2025 one which will be very tough and very long. For the Lazio player there is also a long journey in the youth teams of the Italian national team, Under 16, Under 18 with which he finished third at the FIBA World Cup 3×3 in 2011 and Under 20 with which he became European champion in Estonia in 2013.

I meet Rossi again, with whom I had the pleasure of winning a championship in Scafati, and this convinced me even more. I take this opportunity to greet all the fans and thank the Club and the Patron for their consideration. I know the club is trying to build a competitive roster and I can’t wait to get started“.
