CREMONA. The Madonna of the Rings
- Until June 30, 2024 – Ala Ponzone Civic Museum
After careful and scrupulous restoration by Muriel Vervat, from 31 May to 30 June 2024, in the Sala delle Colonne of the “Ala Ponzone” Civic Museum, The Madonna of the Rings will be exhibited, an important fourteenth-century Florentine panel depicting the Madonna and Child donated in 2014 by the heirs of Giorgio Brugnelli to the Pinacoteca.
The panel, which appeared for the first time on the antiques market in 1978 under the name of Cenni di Francesco, was compared in 1980 by Miklòs Boskovits to the so-called Master of the Bargello, a painter active in Florence in the second half of the fourteenth century who takes his name from a torn fresco depicting a Madonna and Child among angels and saints now preserved in the Bargello Museum and now exceptionally exhibited here alongside the Madonna for an appropriate comparison.
The two works can be seen with the normal entrance ticket to the Pinacoteca.
CREMONA. Traits. Cremona art profiles
- From 7 June to 31 July 2024 – Diocesan Museum, Piazza SAM Zaccaria 4
Monographic exhibition by the Cremona photographer Paolo Mazzini, curated by Valeria Loddo: an in-depth and layered investigation into the city of Cremona, represented as a living organism that evolves over time and space. Paolo Mazzini offers a penetrating look at the complexity of the relationships between place, history and human identity. Each photograph captures the features of the same face, revealing the many facets of a city rich in history, culture and life. Closed lines, intersections, broken edges, harmonious curves are the traces that ideally connect the places of Cremona’s culture: Cathedral, Torrazzo, Diocesan Museum, Violin Museum, Arvedi Auditorium, Civic Museum and Archaeological Museum.
The exhibition, which can be visited until 31 July in the temporary exhibition room of the Diocesan Museum of Cremona, is promoted by the Potenza Tamini Foundation, in collaboration with the Diocesan Museum of Cremona and the diocesan monthly Riflessi Magazine.
