The Grandparents Park is born in Cosenza

Cosenza is preparing to welcome a new green jewel into its urban fabric: the Grandparents Park.

There Land of Piero gives Cosenza the Grandparents’ Park. In recent weeks, with the support of volunteers and the coordination of Francesco Chiarello, historic founding member of La Terra di Piero odv, the installations of equipment and games were completed within the Emiliano Morrone Park, located in via Misasi in Cosenza. This choice is not random: Morrone Park offers large spaces and a central location, making it accessible for the entire community. Grandparents’ Park is not just a recreational space, but an opportunity to strengthen intergenerational bonds and promote well-being and inclusion. The imminent inauguration is awaited with great enthusiasm, marking a new chapter in the social life of the city of Cosenza.

Grandparents’ park in Cosenza: the project

The project, conceived by architects Sergio De Luca and Massimo Cucunato, aims to promote social inclusion through a design with attention to the smallest details. The Grandparents Park will not only be a place dedicated to fun and physical activity, but also to the promotion of psycho-cognitive development and the organization of cultural events, in collaboration with local associations and institutions. This holistic approach aims to foster meaningful social interaction and promote individual and collective well-being.

The guided tours during the construction phase have already aroused interest among schools, associations and citizens, demonstrating the great potential of this space for the community. During the meetings organized, the president Sergio Crocco and the volunteers shared the importance of regenerating urban spaces and taking care of them. The Grandparents Park represents a further step towards a more inclusive and lively city, after the success of the adjacent Piero Romeo Park and the Grandparents Park in Rende.

A project made possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, of Calabria region and numerous local associations and institutions. The Municipality of Cosenza has granted the area and is committed to preparing the spaces, while the Italian Physiotherapy Association will collaborate to organize physical and prevention activities.
