From 1 to 6 July the most important locations in the Lario will host the fifth edition of the Como Lake Cocktail Week, an event dedicated to the world of mixology and quality spirits. An unmissable event for industry experts and cocktail enthusiasts, to celebrate the art of mixology, the skills and class of Italian bartenders and the beauty of Lake Como and its main tourist locations.
There will be 35 locations involved – including hotels, restaurants and bars – in a busy calendar of events, evenings, presentations of new products and tastings of cocktails prepared by the best bartenders on the theme: “Fantastic Classic”. The Como Lake Cocktail Week 2024 in fact wants to celebrate the great classics of mixing established, for the first time, in 1961 when the official list of the IBA – International Bartenders Association was born – and today they have returned to be reread, interpreted, prepared. From the timeless Martini Cocktail, James Bond’s favorite and the very Italian Negroni, we move on to drinks based on great spirits such as Manhattan and Gimlet, Tom Collins and Sidecar, up to sparklings: French 75, Bellini and Champagne Cocktails, highly appreciated in all bars around the world.
The 2024 event, organized and promoted by journalist Annalisa Testa, is sponsored by the Municipality of Como, the Municipality of Cernobbio, Confindustria and Confcommercio.
“The new trends and tastes of customers – states Annalisa Testa – have brought back into vogue some of the most well-known and famous IBA Drink cocktails, sometimes and wrongly forgotten, which today have regained the interest of the public. We want to bring those recipes back to life and celebrate the history of mixing described in the great works of literature by authors such as Jerry Thomas, Harry MacElhone, David A. Embury and Harry Craddock”, The opening ceremony of the week will take place on 2 July at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este in Cernobbio which will participate at the contest with the Ceccato Garden Bar, reopened after a complete restyling. Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Villa Lario and Passalacqua are among the most evocative locations to host the events of the event, in addition to the cocktail bars in the city of Como and in the other Como locations.
The preview of the Como Lake Cocktail Week will be held on Monday 1 July, at the Sheraton Lake Como, with the Cocktail Competition which will elect the best cocktail on Lake Como with 30 bartenders at the starting line.
