Taranto bus drivers busy with elections, mobility disruptions

TARANTO, 07 JUN – On the occasion of the elections for the renewal of the European Parliament and of some local administrations, numerous employees of Kyma Mobilità-Amat, the Taranto urban mobility company 100% owned by the Municipality, will be engaged in activities related to functioning of polling stations, such as presidents, secretaries, scrutineers, list and candidate representatives. At the moment, the company reports, “around 106 communications from employees have already been received, 95 of which are bus drivers, around 40% of the driving staff”. These numbers are destined to increase since, the company points out, accreditations are also possible directly at the polling stations until they open, i.e. at 9 am tomorrow, without considering, however, that absences for electoral reasons must be added to the absences for illness, accidents, law 104 permits. “These reductions – observes Kyma Mobilità – may also be extended to Tuesday 11 June since, on that day, the staff who have carried out activities at the polling stations must recover the periodic rest not enjoyed on Sunday”. Therefore, the investee company, despite having already adopted internally the suspension of the granting of holidays and paid trade union permits for driving staff, from tomorrow to Tuesday 11 June “will not be able to guarantee the complete performance of the ordinary scheduled services of the urban and suburban public transport. Kyma Mobilità – concludes the note – apologizes for the inconveniences that such disruptions, independent of the company’s control, may cause to users”. (HANDLE).
