Elections in Casoria, the outgoing mayor Raffaele Bene is running again: his words to Anteprima 24
“Our coalition has worked hard in this first mandate, it has allowed us to do important things. The city has understood what we have done, so much so that the proof of this is the calm and content-oriented electoral campaign”. Casoria is a border city, the first province north of Naples, which is an important connection for provincial roads to and from the capital. This, and related road maintenance, is the main issue that still needs to be done: “The first step to improve the liveability of our city is undoubtedly to improve the roads: road maintenance interventions must be carried out, undoubtedly, but we must also start thinking about experiencing the city in a different way. The traffic plan should include fewer cars, more greenery, improvements in public transport, and relative enjoyment of common spaces and green areas. The horizon is that of the internal metro which would connect Casoria with Capodichino, and the high-speed station in Casoria“.
“We could have done more, there were many unforeseen events”
“Shortly after our settlement there was a collapse in Via San Mauro: that chasm immediately complicated our administration. Then, there was the pandemic, and naturally the financial crisis which in the long run proved to be the right move to begin the recovery of the accounts which is now visible“. The outgoing mayor looks back on these five years as mayor of the her Casoria. “I am proud of some interventions – says Bene – of having reinvigorated events and traditions such as the feast of San Mauro, and of having recreated a community spirit. I’m proud that our administration was the first in the history of Casoria to return to the community the assets taken from crime: the emblem is the children’s center in Via Monte Bianco built in one year on the ashes of a boss’s house and the demolished bunker“.
