Confindustria Lombardia: 65% of companies report difficulties in finding personnel

Professional profiles that cannot be found, the need to identify formulas for attraction and retention, growth in turnover, increase in organizational and remuneration flexibility: these are the main indications that emerged from the regional extract of the Labor Survey ‘The numbers for human resources’ carried out by Confindustria Lombardia. The labor survey, carried out annually by the Confindustria System among the associated companies on the various topics relating to the management of human resources, it is conceived mainly as a tool for the benefit of those in the company who deal with human capital.

In Lombardy they participated in the survey 840 companies associated with the 9 territorial areas of Confindustria Lombardia, for a total of 155 thousand employees. «The survey provides a series of confirmations of what companies face in recent years when they turn to the labor market – commented the president of Confindustria Lombardia Francesco Buzzella -. Adequate remuneration policies, empowerment and gratification of young people, flexibility in the offer of corporate welfare tools and incentive systems, better work-life balance, are formulas that many Lombard companies already adopt to attract and retain workers but which, for Confindustria Lombardy, must become the starting point for the creation of relationships from which both the company and the worker benefit. Relationships based on mutual trust in which the growth of the employee and the growth of the company go hand in hand.”

The high share of blue-collar personnel (47%, with peaks of 51% in industry) reflects the strong manufacturing vocation of the Lombard entrepreneurial fabric, while the weight of white collars (managers and employees) reaches 50% (and exceeds 60% in services) due to the strong concentration of head quarters of multinational companies and, especially in Milan, of innovative services with high value of knowledge. The biggest problems emerge for technical skills/tasks (reported by 77% of companies with sourcing difficulties) and for manual ones (49%). Reports regarding transversal skills, the so-called soft skills, (14%) and managerial skills (8%) are less widespread. However, as regards the areas, there are greater problems in finding resources with skills functional to the digital transition (reported by 30% of companies with difficulty in finding), while problems in the internationalization (14%) and green areas are less widespread. (9%)
