Gaming and emerging technologies, “Upside” arrives in Naples

NAPLES (ITALPRESS) – On 28 and 29 June, Naples becomes the stage for an innovative technological challenge in the world of gaming: Upside, the first gaming competition oriented towards emerging technologies. The event will be held at the Mostra d’Oltremare headquarters. The project is carried out as part of the public notice for the selection of project proposals by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, with a partnership made up of the Luigi Vanvitelli University of Campania, lead body of the project, Mkers Spa, Polytechnic of Bari, WINDTRE and the Meditech Competence Center. During the two-day event, Upside will offer a comprehensive overview of emerging technologies. At the heart of Upside is the 5G connection, a key element of the technological progress in which MIMIT is investing. The other technologies that accompany 5G at the event are Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. Upside focuses on team competition, where skill, strategy and technological innovation come together to deliver a cutting-edge gaming experience. Furthermore, institutional conferences will be organized which will delve into the trends of new technologies, encouraging dialogue between sector experts and institutions. Mkers Spa, leader in the esports and gaming sector in Italy, will develop innovative content, offering an immersive gaming experience that will actively involve the community and Generation Z, integrating the most advanced technologies. WINDTRE Technological business partner of the event, provides an indoor 5G network developed and created specifically for the event, to guarantee ultra-fast connectivity with minimal latency. This infrastructure is essential to ensure fluid and uninterrupted gameplay. It will also provide voice and data SIMs for gamers’ devices. The Luigi Vanvitelli University of Campania will carry out the research and analysis of the data collected through the Upside application and the 5G infrastructures developed specifically for the event. The University will prepare reports and statistics, contributing to understanding the impact of new technologies in the world of gaming. Finally, electromagnetic pollution will be monitored throughout the event to evaluate the eco-sustainability of these events. The Polytechnic of Bari will study the application of Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Blockchain technologies to develop more advanced gaming strategies and new types of interaction between competing players and spectators of gaming events, in order to increase involvement overall audience. Finally, the Meditech Competence Center will offer its support through a deep knowledge of the technologies involved. After registering on projectuspide.it, participants will have to download an “Upside” app developed by Bitdrome, available on both the App Store and Google Play, designed to facilitate the process and improve the user experience before the official start. At the Mostra D’Oltremare, the competing teams will undergo an initial accreditation phase, during which they will receive a race kit. After changing, they will go to the tech desk, where the app download and connection to the 5G network will be verified. Subsequently, participants will move to the brief area, where the rules of the competition will be explained and they will select the challenges to face. In the dark zone they will begin to feel the adrenaline of the challenge, and with the opening of the door the competition will begin. Teams will have five game sessions available and will be able to choose from nine titles, including Fortnite, Clash Royale and Among Us VR. (ITALPRESS).
