The initiative promoted in Legnano on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the assassination of Giacomo Matteotti, an evening not to be forgotten, has been postponed to a later date; the event – promoted by Polis and Anpi with the patronage of the municipal administration – was scheduled for 10 June.
Who was Giacomo Matteotti
The promoters of the evening explain:
“At 4.30 pm on 10 June 1924, on the Lungotevere Arnaldo da Brescia, in Rome, a man was forcibly loaded into a car; this man was Giacomo Matteotti, socialist deputy, opponent of fascism and Benito Mussolini. He would never be seen again alive. His body was found a few days later barbarically massacred and thrown into a hole. His killers were identified but never punished for their proximity to the fascist regime. Mussolini was in fact the real instigator of the murder.
Speaker Giorgio Vecchio
He will intervene during the initiative George Vecchio, professor of contemporary history at the University of Parma, the Numantini musical group. The event was scheduled for 9pm in the conference room of Palazzo Leone da Perego in Legnano (via Gilardelli 10). The organizers will communicate the new date as soon as possible.
