Florence, 7 June 2024 – Un wall covered with children’s drawings, hung as if they were clothes in the sun; an elderly couple sitting on a bench in Piazzale Michelangelo admiring Florence in a black and white shot with a vintage flavour; a postcard sunset reflected in theArno under the Santa Trinita bridge. These are the photos of Fabrizio Ferri, Ginevra Galanti and Sebastiano Ricotta, winners of the photographic contest “The beauty of the soul” promoted by Caritas Solidarity Foundation of Florence and Rotary Club of Florence, to tell the story of the Florentines, their daily life, their gestures and relationships with others. The best shots will become the protagonists of a calendar that will be distributed to raise funds for the San Paolino shelter, managed by the Foundation. There are three categories: The beauty of the soul in interpersonal relationships, The beauty of the soul of Florence, The beauty of the soul of Piazza San Paolino and the surrounding areas. “We received many photos, all of a high standard and choosing was not easy – he comments Vincenzo Lucchetti, president of the Caritas Solidarity Foundation of Florence –. The winning shots are able to tell in different ways the beauty that surrounds us but we often don’t notice, due to distraction, fatigue or haste, capturing the essence of moments and places. The images will become a calendar that will help us collect resources to guarantee services at Casa San Paolino, a reception facility where single women, families, single men and people over fifty in highly fragile situations are hosted.” The competition was organized by Fondazione Solidarietà Caritas, Rotary Club Florence with the collaboration of Caritas Diocesana Florence, Young Caritas Florence, Rotaract Club Florence, Interact Club Florence.
