Raped by a motorist who had asked her for road information after pulling up to a bus stop in via della Magliana. A month after the attack, officers from the San Giovanni police station arrested a 39-year-old Roman man identified by investigators on the basis of a series of findings following the victim’s complaint. The man arrested for rape is Simone Borgesealready sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for raping a taxi driver in Piana del Sole on 8 May 2015. He was released from prison in 2021. The suspicion is now that it is a serial killer.
Last May 8th the young woman, a student, was waiting for public transport to arrive when she was approached by the stranger. “I have to go to the ring road”, the man at the wheel of the car had explained to her, who then invited the girl to get on board to show him an app on her smartphone with the route to follow given that, as he had explained to the victim, his cell phone was dead. But it was a trap. The student, thinking of helping him, fell into the trap also because in the meantime a line of vehicles had formed behind the car. At this point the driver left with the young woman next to her, to whom she asked to make two phone calls to which no one answered. Another excuse because the 39-year-old instead took an isolated road and started molesting the young woman, who was then raped.
After the abuse, the victim was taken to the Villa Bonelli area and abandoned on the street. Shortly afterwards she went to the police and filed a complaint. The officers’ investigations, also with the analysis of the images of some cameras that had filmed the car and the license plate, and also with the photographic recognition of the subject by the victim, allowed the investigating judge to issue aprecautionary custody order under house arrest.
