The investigations were conducted by the carabinieri of the Rho company and led to the arrest of ten South Americanstwo women and eight men.
All members of the gang are held responsible for aggravated theft and receiving stolen goods. And they were all hit with a precautionary custody order.
How the gang acted
The Carabinieri officers discovered that the gang, overall, planned and committed 27 aggravated robberies. All to the detriment of elderly people.
The modus operandi was tested and replicated. Once the potential victims had been identified at the ATMs, the criminals surrounded the unfortunate person in question. Then they distracted him, for example by throwing small coins or banknotes on the ground.
