Campania is first in terms of number of crimes (14% of the national total). Noin 2023, as many as 1531 (+21% compared to 2022) crimes related to illegal bricks, 1710 people reported (+18.6%) and 332 criminal seizures (+18%).

Illegal construction, illegal management of quarries, state concessions: the grip of illegal cement is growing along the Campania coasts. In 2023 there were 1,531 (+21% compared to 2022) confirmed crimes by the police and the Port Authorities equal to 14.9% of the national total with 1,710 people reported (+18.6%), 332 criminal seizures (+18%) . Administrative offenses increase slightly1,970 (there were 1957 in 2022) and related sanctions (4,302, +22%).

To report it Legambiente which, on the occasion of the launch of the “Goletta Verde” and “Goletta dei Laghi” 2024 campaigns, presents a preview of the dossier data “Mare Monstrum” 2024 dedicated to the illegal cement cycle, collected by law enforcement agencies and port authorities.

At the Campania holds the “negative” record for the number of ordinances issued in relation to the population: from 2004 to 2022, a case was opened for illegal construction every 236.6 inhabitants.

In light of this Legambiente returns to ask the Government for immediate answers such as the recognition of full power to the Prefects to demolish buildings that are not demolished by the Municipalities and the cancellation in the “Save Home” Decree of the so-called “silence-consent”, which pave the way for new abuses given that no Municipality will ever be able to examine an amnesty procedure within the established 45 days.
