It is a question that many are asking themselves after the news that the Prefects of Campobasso and Isernia have issued six anti-mafia interdiction measures for mafia infiltration, against as many companies, three for each province, operating in Molise. After the first ones issued by the Prefect of Campobasso last April, another three interdiction measures were notified by the Prefect of Isernia against as many companies operating in the Pentra Province. It was the epilogue to an activity of prevention and contrast to attempts of mafia infiltration in the local economy that has brought results that on the one hand highlight the strong commitment of the institutions towards this phenomenon, on the other do not make us feel calm given that already in 2023, in a report by the DDIA, a condition of vulnerability of the Isernia territory emerges that is affected by the influence of the so-called “geocriminal” areas of the neighboring province of Caserta. The problem, therefore, cannot and must not be underestimated, and this is why the same citizens alarmed by what happened are wondering why there is all this silence around this matter. Starting with the politics that counts, the one that must plan the growth and development of this region, but also worry about situations that break certain economic-social balances, putting at risk the very entrepreneurial fabric in a territory that is still paying for the gross errors of decades of mismanagement. And then also the local institutions which, even if they cannot suddenly invent investigators, must become the first bastions in the face of similar issues with courageous choices. Of course, if it is the country system that is not working properly, the general context cannot be easy; but no one can and must stop in the face of things like this, because otherwise in a small region like ours, the only question that remains to be asked is: Molise is a land of conquest, then! Let’s say instead that in a region like ours, it would only be necessary to give answers. And these once again come from the Prefectures of Campobasso and Isernia, and obviously from all the other institutions for the great work done to ensure that this “modus” was brought to light and opposed.
