Viareggio – Consternation and regret. The Social Councilors of the Municipalities of Camaiore, Massarosa and Seravezza thus comment on what happened this morning in the Municipality of Viareggio
Anna Graziani, Stefano Pellegrini and Alberta Puccetti presented themselves at the Social Office of the Municipality of Viareggio for an appointment agreed upon some time ago, with the aim of receiving updates and information about projects, funds and personnel
of the Versilia area, as part of the Zonal Conference of which Viareggio is the leader. This appointment, however, was cancelled, through an informal communication sent with very little notice.
“We went, as per our right and duty, to the Social Security Offices, but, although we had an appointment already agreed upon, we were asked not to wait as the staff would not show up, it seems for an emergency not better specified – say the three Councilors -. Unfortunately this seems to be an excuse, given that it is not the first time that appointments and meetings have been postponed.”
And this happens, as reported by Graziani, Pellegrini and Puccetti, especially since the Mayor of Viareggio wanted the elimination of the table of competent Councilors, established by choice of all the Versilia Municipalities and dedicated to the discussion
of the social and health issues of the Area, which preceded the institutional transition to the Conference of Mayors.
“For months we have been chasing the lead municipality (i.e. Viareggio) to be able to discuss and share the policies that concern all the citizens of the district, but every time a problem arises and it is postponed without any valid justification. Every time. If Viareggio has decided to withdraw its Councilor from the discussion table, nothing must prevent the other Municipalities from receiving information directly from the Municipal Offices, which manage, on behalf of the entire Versilia, the projects, the personnel and above all the funds dedicated to social and healthcare sectors. We therefore ask that Mayor Del Ghingaro come to the Zonal Conference of Mayors to report on what happened – they conclude -: this is yet another serious institutional disgrace that we are no longer willing to tolerate”
