The 2023 -2024 sports season of the IC “Esseneto of Agrigento” ended with the delivery of the certificates of merit. Awarded this morning by the Headmaster Prof. Francesco Catalano and the motor science teachers Angela Farruggia and Calogero Fucà, all the students who participated in the various sporting events and student championships in the specialties of athletics (cross country and track), 5-a-side football, volleyball, tag rugby and handball. Five provincial titles were achieved (cross-country running, tag rugby, track athletics, cadet volleyball) during the current year and a well-deserved regional second place in the track athletics specialty, just three points behind an institute in the province of Palermo and a fourth regional place in the tag rugby specialty.
Specifically, the results achieved by the students during the current school year were the following:
1st place “Solar System” Project Athletics – CUS Catania.
1st place provincial cross-country race in the cadet category – Ribera.
4th place in the regional cross-country race in the cadet category – Vittoria (RG).
1st place TAG Provincial Rugby cadets – Villaggio Peruzzo field.
3rd place provincial handball cadet category – Sport Village.
1st place 1st basketball quadrangular “Real Basket” – Palazzetto P.Nicosia.
1st place Athletics on provincial track cadet category – Sciacca.
2nd place Athletics on provincial track cadet category – Sciacca.
4th place TAG Regional Rugby cadet category – Messina.
2nd place Athletics on regional track cadet category – CUS Palermo.
2nd place 5-a-side football in the district cadet category – Vill field. Peruzzo.
1st post district volleyball cadet category – ITET L. Sciascia gym.
1st place Provincial Volleyball cadet category IC Bosco di Camp gym. of Licata.
1st place provincial volleyball cadet category ICA gym Frank (V. Reale) Agrigento.
Also awarded during the morning were the students who participated in the semi-finals and finals of the International Mathematical Games Championships curated by mathematics teachers Sarullo Alessandra, Conti Silvana and Vullo Angela. The special “Esseneto” athlete of the year award was awarded to Piraneo Nicolas 3A, Llama Martina 3F and student Danile Giuseppe 3A. A particular recognition was also awarded to the school collaborator Francesco Curaba, for his precious collaboration in the implementation of the sports activities organized by the school sports center of the institute.
