After several hours the response from the Sardinian comedian arrived, who broke the silence and explained why she will not be the host of the “Una notte in Italia” film festival on the island of Tavolara. The story is linked to the change of artistic direction and the departure of Piera Detassispresident and artistic director of the Academy of Italian Cinema.
Thus the presenter wrote on her official page: “To all those who ask me why I won’t be at the Tavolara Film Festival this year – said Cucciari -. I hosted this festival with joy, passion, and great pride to celebrate cinema but also a piece of Sardinia that I have always felt a bit like mine too, for about ten years. It was an immediate connection with Piera Detassis, which involved me first in the afternoon meetings and then also in the screening evenings, with the enthusiastic approval of Marco Navone and the Argonauti association, after Neri Marcorè had chosen to leave. Many people tell me that he will be back this year, he will be very good as always”.
“It’s a unilateral change, and it’s in things, it can happen – goes on – but on a human level I am sorry that a meeting point was not sought between the two historical souls of this event. We could have looked for a solution, because together problems are generated, and together they are resolved, but without a comparison, nothing is possible. For thirty-one years Marco and Piera have organized this festival, making it, thanks to their invaluable joint work, the splendor it has become. I would have liked to see him, all of us once again, flying high, on that island within the island that I love so much. These years have given me precious encounters, which I will always carry with me. Thanks to all the people who have followed us in the square in Porto San Paolo, in the Peschiera di San Teodoro, and on the island of Tavolara over the years: you have been a wonderful summer audience, in the sun and in the wind.
