The future of Made in Italy it is largely linked to that of our businesses. If the latter work and are not in a position to do so, Italian excellence does not fear competition. The strength of Italian productions and the alchemy that makes them unique in the world are precisely the themes from which theevent organized in Verona by Il Giornale, as part of the celebrations for its fiftieth anniversary. At the Confindustria headquarters in Verona, in Piazza Cittadella, a morning full of debates and discussions with some of the great protagonists of Italian entrepreneurship begins. And the first agreement of the ideal symphony of interventions and ideas is given by the newly elected president of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsinipreceded by greetings from the Director of Il Giornale, Alessandro Sallusti.

Director Sallusti introduces the event and the word passes to the new president Orsini. The focus is immediately on the Europeans. “The objective is to safeguard the countries’ know-how. And then there is the issue ofpower, we need to increase energy independence. The energy mix is the way, renewables will be in the future but we also need to start talking about nuclear, about which there is great news today. We are an excellence in micro-reactors, we must accelerate the experimentation and do it in Italy. Starting today we will be ready in 2032″. And again, Orsini refers to legal certainty. “Fundamental issue, if it isn’t there we can’t be attractive for those who invest.”

Sallusti raises the ball on the issue of human capital and wages and Orsini seizes it. “Today we are heading towards a new industrial revolution with artificial intelligence. We will carry out our negotiations putting new technologies at the centre”. And then there is the dema theme of training. “The gap between Italy and Germany is still wide, if people who are retiring become the trainers of new arrivals, we will have people ready to join the company”. Sallusti touches on the topic of taxes and fiscal pressure. “At this moment I believe the fiscal wedge path is the one to maintain. We must do everything possible to make it happen businesses competitive, this is the real issue. Putting industry back at the center will be the key and having an EU on this line will be fundamental.”

“Industry 5.0 interests me a lot”, continues Orsini, commenting on the government’s line. And again: “That measure will reactivate the system. We must simplify, be quick and provide answers to businesses.” Deputy director Osvaldo De Paolini continues his conversation with the president of Confindustria. Orsini replies: “Confindustria must represent everyone, my idea will be to help even the small ones grow. Listening to businesses and associations is fundamental. On energy we must start from the things that unite us, yesterday in France we said to ourselves that way will be to have a single European energy market. We need to create a system.”

What’s on your agenda? Sallusti asks. “We must put Industry 5.0 on the ground from July, then we must begin nuclear testing in Italy. We must be attractive on human capital with a great housing plan, redeveloping cities and putting people at the center. And this can be done quickly “.

Orsini’s speech is then followed by a succession of round tables and interviews.
