The great Indian activist loves poetry and it is not uncommon for her to read Tagore and Rilke in her public speeches. The motivation for the award begins like this: ‘For its mission to give voice and poetry to lands, forests and oceans; for his ability to transform words into instruments of justice, peace and sustainability’.
