First verdict at the Città di Cremona Competition, the international violin performance prize promoted by the Violin Museum and the Arvedi Buschini Foundation. Yesterday evening, at the end of the first test, the one for solo violin, the jury chaired by Sergej Krylov admitted the following competitors to the second test: Nurie Chung (South Korea), Alexander Goldberg (USA-Italy), Kokoro Imagawa (Japan) , Elias David Moncado (Germany), Hinano Ogihara (Japan), Aoi Saito (Japan), Yuki Serino (Italy-Japan), Shaoheng Zhong (China). The competition therefore begins to come alive. It will be these “magnificent eight” who will try their hand at the violin and piano test which takes place, again in the Arvedi Auditorium, on Thursday and Friday. The tests are open to the public with free entry until all places are filled. The very young talents of the bow will play with the accompaniment of the two pianists of the Competition: Monica Cattarossi and Roberto Arosio. Last night’s verdict is the result of the discussion of the jury chaired by Krylov and composed of renowned masters such as Pierre Amoyal, Ksenia Milas, Alessandro Quarta, Massimo Quarta, Oleksandr Semchuk, Kyoko Takezawa, Anna Tifu, Kirill Troussov. Yesterday the jury also voted for one of the special prizes, the one for the best performance of the piece for solo violin Inside commissioned by the Competition to the composer Stefano Delle Donne: the winner was the Chinese Shaoheng Zhong. The second rehearsal will also be spectacular for the public, in particular for fans of chamber music. In fact, you will be able to listen to classical masterpieces such as the Sonatas for violin and piano by Beethoven, the last Sonatas by Mozart, the Sonatas by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms, and then jewels of the historical twentieth century by Poulenc, Fauré, Debussy, Ravel, Prokofiev. Nurie Chung, Alexander Goldberg, Kokoro Imagawa and Elias David Moncado are scheduled to perform on Thursday. On Friday it will be the turn of Hinano Ogihara, Aoi Saito, Yuki Serino and Shaoheng Zhong. These are the times: morning 9.30-12.30; afternoon 3-6pm. On Friday evening we will know who will advance to the highly anticipated final on Sunday (3pm) in which the competitors will play as soloists with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Krylov himself.
