The violent storm that hit the metropolitan area north of Turin today, around 2.30pm, caused damage and problems to both traffic and some buildings. The municipalities most affected were those in the northern belt.

In Mappano the “Giovanni Falcone” middle school paid the price in via Tibaldi, hit by intense rain combined with fierce gusts of wind which caused the flooding of the gym and water infiltration into the classrooms.

The Municipality is already intervening to bring the premises back to normal and be able to reopen the school complex for the last few days before the end of the school year.

Damage and flooding also to the «Tancredi Milone» library in Venaria Reale, where due to the intense storm a river of water came from the gutter, forcing the building to be cordoned off. Concern about books and equipment.

In Settimo Torinese the storm caused the flooding of the railway underpass di via Leinì, which was temporarily closed to traffic. About 25 centimeters of water transformed the underpass into a canal: the flashing traffic lights immediately came into operation signaling the presence of water and fortunately there were no cars trapped. Another inconvenience in the city was recorded along the State road 11, towards Turin between the via Castiglione and via San Mauro exits, where a plant fell onto the asphalt and blocked part of the road. The plant was removed thanks to the intervention of municipal police officers.
