L’Aquila: a person responsible for aggravated theft and damage to cars arrested

L’AQUILA – On the night between 1st and 2nd June, the staff of the Flying Squad of the Avezzano Public Security Police Station intervened in a street in the center following a request from some citizens who had suffered damage to their parked vehicles by an individualpresumably foreign.

The Police Operators, having arrived on site, made contact with the applicants who provided them with detailed descriptions of the person responsible for the damage, who in the meantime had already left, who had probably acted using a medium sized stickwhich was found not far away, broken into three parts.

Therefore, the operators proceeded with a search for the reported individual and shortly afterwards noticed a subject, corresponding to the descriptions provided, exiting the ramp of an apartment building which leads to the rooms used as a garage.

He was carrying a man’s bike, a scooter, a portable compressor and other stolen objects which shortly before the foreigner, after having forced the overhead doors, had removed from some garages.

The subsequent check, with the foreigner’s personal search, led to the discovery of some burglary tools inside his pouch.

Some of the condominium owners affected by the thefts were immediately alerted and recognized their objects and at the same time regained possession of them; while other material found, whose owners are currently unknown, was kept in the offices of the Commissariat awaiting subsequent return to those entitled to it.

At the time of arrest, the foreigner appeared in a state of evident psychophysical alteration, without suitable documents for his identification and, accompanied to the offices of this police station where the owners of the damaged cars also arrived, he was recognized without any doubt as being responsible for the damage.

From the checks carried out, once fully identified, the same man, originally from Morocco, was already the recipient of an “Expulsion Order with simultaneous Order to leave the National Territory” issued respectively by the Prefect and Police Commissioner of L’Aquila in the first months of 2022, which he had never complied with.

For the above facts he was therefore arrested and informed the Magistrate on duty of the local Prosecutor’s Office who arranged for his translation to the Avezzano Prison.
