Disappointment for cruise passengers who landed in Salerno: Fenailp Turismo responds with concrete proposals

Fenailp Turismo expresses its appreciation for the commitment of the municipal administration of Salerno and the Councilor of Ferrara in promoting the city as a popular destination for cruise flows. The efforts made have led to a significant increase in cruise ship dockings, as demonstrated by the ship’s recent presence Celebrity Constellation. However, on 2 June, some tourists expressed disappointment at the closure of many shops and the lack of tourist information available.

The President of Fenailp Turismo, Marco Sansiviero, recognizes the need to address this problem urgently to improve the tourist image of Salerno. “We understand the economic reasons that led our commercial operators to close their shops on this holiday. It is clear that the benefits deriving from the presence of cruise passengers are not yet tangible enough to justify the opening,” Sansiviero said.

“To avoid a reputational backlash, it is essential to start a serious analysis of the habits and behaviors of tourists in Salerno.” Fenailp Turismo proposes to collect fundamental data to better understand the tourism phenomenon, answering crucial questions such as: how many tourists does each ship bring? How many participate in excursions in the province and how many stay in the city? How much do tourists who stay in the city spend on average and what do they buy?

The “Provincial Tourist Observatory” of Fenailp is available to start a data monitoring activity in collaboration with the competent public administrations. At the same time, it is necessary to provide Salerno with a network of efficient tourist info points, capable of providing assistance to guests.

“With an evidence-based approach and close public-private collaboration, we can further improve the tourist experience and the economic impact of tourism on our city,” concluded Sansiviero. “We thank the municipal administration for its continued commitment and invite all the actors involved to work together for an even more prosperous future for Salerno.”
