“Dad I need 700 euros”: 63-year-old scammed via text message in Latina

Latina, 14 June 2024 – Bank transfers were made through deception: the carabinieri of the local Latina Scalo station, upon preliminary conclusion of the investigation, handed over the person to freedom, for the crime of frauda class 71 citizen, resident in Arzano (NA), held responsible for the fraud perpetrated on 02 February against a class 61 citizen, resident in Cisterna di Latina (LT).

The aforementioned, sent to telephone users via the messaging service of a well-known application to the 63-year-old, messages that caused him to issue a bank transfer of the sum of €700.00, by top-up on a rechargeable credit card, claiming to be his son. Investigations by the Latina Scalo police continueto ascertain whether the 53-year-old has carried out further scams against vulnerable people.

For the record, and for the protection of those under investigation, we would like to remind you that an accusation is not equivalent to a conviction, that the evidence is gathered in court and that the Italian judicial system still provides for three levels of judgement.
