Wild Mussel Festival: the flavor of mussels and solidarity returns to Marina di Ravenna and to local restaurants on 28-29-30 June

The harvest of the Wild Mussels of Marina di Ravenna started auspiciously with the dives of the underwater mussels of the two local fishermen’s cooperatives and the quality is excellent. In the midst of the mussel harvest, which grows spontaneously in the open sea at the base of the platforms in the Adriatic, the Marina di Ravenna Mussel Festival arrives which opens on Friday 28 June and continues on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June in Molo Dalmazia, in the Pescherecci Basin , with the aim of promoting this excellent local product and supporting the cozzari who continue to passionately practice this tough sea profession. There will also be a preview on June 27th at Bagno Finisterre with the inaugural dinner on the beach and a menu based on mussels.

The Cozza Selvaggia from Marina di Ravenna is one of the most prized in Italy. The supply chain of this identifying product of our sea is important for economic, tourist, gastronomic and environmental purposes. The festival is held with the collaboration of the cozzari cooperatives that collect the mussels and the local restaurants – from the Ravenna beaches to the city of Ravenna – which include the Wild Mussels of Marina di Ravenna in their menus. Large-scale retail trade and various fishmongers also join the project, making the Wild Mussels from Marina di Ravenna available on their fish stalls.

The event is promoted by Tuttifrutti Advertising Agency with the patronage Slow Food Ravenna aps, the patronage and contribution of the Municipality of Ravenna, the contribution of Eni and the Eni Enrico Mattei-FEEM Foundation, the patronage of the Province of Ravenna, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Chamber of Commerce of Ferrara Ravenna, the Po Delta Park , of the AMA Mediterranean Aquaculture Association and the Emilia-Romagna Mussel Farmers Consortium. Confesercenti, Confcommercio, Legacoop Romagna and AGCI, the fishermen’s cooperatives La Romagnola, Nuovo Conisub, Gruppo Hera, Romagna Acque and also Cestha, Ulisse and the Pro Loco of Marina di Ravenna collaborate in the event.

The center of the event in the three days of the festival is represented byarea of the fishing basin – between Molo Dalmazia and the former Fish Market – in Marina di Ravenna where meetings and show cooking will be held and where some stands will offer Wild Mussels to the public.

The stands will be managed by: Aurora Osteria & Cultura; L’Acciuga Osteria; Finisterre Beach Restaurant; Food Truck Savut; Fishermen from Marina di Ravenna; Ravenna Covered Market Restaurant.

The festival also hosts a valuable initiative by fundraiser for charitable purposes in memory of Loris Barberini, a true fisherman-cozzaro from Marina di Ravenna. The funds raised by family and friends will be used to purchase a defibrillator which will be placed in the fish market area.
