Marche, controls on the fishing supply chain: 400 kilos of untraceable fish products were sold in a van, seized – News Ancona-Osimo – CentroPagina

ANCONA – In recent days, an extensive control activity on the fishing supply chain conducted by the commands of the Marche Coast Guard along the coast from Gabicce to San Benedetto del Tronto up to the regional hinterland. The operations were coordinated by the Fisheries Control Center of the Maritime Directorate of Ancona, during which numerous checks were carried out by the inspectors.

In particular, the military carried out, in total, 50 inspection activities on fishing boats (both at sea and upon landing), fishmongers, restaurants, street vendors, large-scale retail trade (large-scale retail trade) and logistics platforms. This is the balance: 11 administrative sanctionsfor a value of approximately 16,064 euros, e 11 seizures of fish products of different types and species, for a total of approximately 533 Kg. Twenty-nine fishing gear as part of the activity to protect the fishery resources seized.

Among the operations of greatest interest conducted, it should be noted that, following prolonged intelligence activity, the Coast Guard carried out targeted inspections of an isothermal van, operating on behalf of a well-known fish shop of Campania origin. During this check it emerged that the fish product transported – advertised via social channels and sold after booking on WhatsApp chat – was devoid of any documentation certifying traceability. Therefore, approximately 400 kilos of fish products were seized, at the same time imposing a fine of 1500 euros.

The Marche Maritime Directorate – Regional Command of the Coast Guard always recommends consumers to pay the utmost attention and purchase fish products that ensure compliance with current legislation relating to the correct traceability of the catch, avoiding buying products of dubious origin or illicitly sold.
