From the protection of greenery with the ban on exceptions for the change of use of green areas to the establishment of a legality department. Here is the electoral programme Sabino Manganor, mayoral candidate for the Oltre list which brings together a series of civic movements.
“The department for legality and for anti-mafia and anti-corruption will manage the preventive control activity on every municipal activity at risk of mafia infiltration, also with the help of a specialized section of the municipal police with preventive investigative tasks which will depend on the competent councilor (for legality, anti-mafia and anti-corruption) – we read in the program – And also the valorisation of the Municipality’s investee companies, through restructuring and reorganization policies aimed at improving their efficiency and profitability”.
Mangano aims to “guarantee access to drinking water for all citizens, with fair pricing policies and benefits for families in situations of economic hardship”.
“We will strengthen the maintenance and expansion of public parks – the program continues – guaranteeing the preservation of biodiversity and respect for the environment. New green spaces will be created with play areas accessible to all citizens and in all neighborhoods, with particular attention to the most densely populated areas.”
The redevelopment of the arboreal heritage is also planned. “We will start a census and an assessment of the state of health of the trees present in urban areas, in order to guarantee their safety and, where necessary, proceed with the planting of new trees – continues the program which also includes a ban on exceptions to the PRGs for the change of intended use of green areas”.
“All strategies aimed at cleaning and maintaining the streets, pavements and squares will be implemented, with particular attention to the areas most frequented by citizens in all neighborhoods of the city, without neglecting the peripheral areas and streets which sometimes they are transformed into open-air landfills. The interventions can be summarized as: reclamation of all urban, extra-urban and road areas from abandoned waste, periodic washing of pavements, streets and squares, cleaning and disinfection of road manholes and rainwater drainage channels and use of water desalted for these purposes. Furthermore, prepare dedicated areas for pet waste to keep the pavements clean.”
And also the strengthening of local public transport, with the implementation of new lines and services, the purchase of ecological vehicles and the optimization of timetables and routes and the strengthening of the Local Police. “We will increase the resources allocated to the local police, investing in the continuous training of officers and in the purchase of cutting-edge technologies to improve the safety of citizens and to ensure compliance with municipal regulations”, it continues.
