Crash on Strada Ovest in Treviso: injuries in desperate conditions | Today Treviso | News

TREVISO – The woman victim of the serious accident that sent traffic in Treviso into a tailspin yesterday afternoon remains in desperate conditions in hospital in Treviso. The 38-year-old cyclist, LM, was hit by a skidding van along Strada Ovest. The condition of the woman, who was rushed to Ca’ Foncello hospital, is very serious.

The dynamics of the accident

The accident occurred shortly after 1pm in Viale della Repubblica, near the intersection with Via Pisa, near the Gobbo driving school. A van equipped with a lifting basket, coming from Villorba and heading towards Stiore, skidded and hit the cyclist, probably due to an illness of the driver, a 22-year-old from Messina employed by a company that works for Enel.

The Rescuers

The van, after losing control, dragged the woman into the waters of the Botteniga. Two witnesses intervened immediately, pulling the lifeless cyclist out of the water and attempting to resuscitate her with cardiac massage until the rescuers arrived. The woman was then intubated and transported to hospital, where she is in critical condition.

The young man driving the van managed to get out of the vehicle independently and to reach the road. Hospitalized in a state of shock, his life is not in danger. Local police officers closed West Road to allow rescue operations and subsequently managed traffic, diverting vehicles. The van was recovered from the river with the help of a fire brigade crane.

The investigations into the dynamics of the accident continue, with the local police having collected testimonies and subjected the driver to further investigations.
