Sara, in her family, with a mother who was a former councilor (Giovanna Cuccuru, Sateriale councilor), has always had a taste for politics. If you were elected, where would your work start?
“From tourism and culture, giving continuity to my delegations. I believe that Ferrara lacks a strategy, a development plan, the identity of the tourist city and its brand has been lost.”
What would have been the shortcomings of this administration in your opinion?
“It should have resulted in a development plan for market products, but instead, from my point of view, there was a strong imbalance on promotion. It was necessary to work on the identity of the territory, art, culture, slow tourism. And then. ..”.
Then?
“On business tourism and conferences. Little work has been done on our artistic and monumental heritage, entertainment events have been chosen but without a cultural and artistic vocation”.
Are you referring to the exhibitions?
“There has been a lack of large exhibitions, especially those produced with attractive sources. We need to be able to organize attractive exhibitions but with at least a two-year program.”
What would you do to bring big events?
“First of all, a 4-5 day program of events in Piazza Trento and Trieste, then I would think about the southern park, towards the airport, to hold concerts in Airfield style”.
So you are one of those against the urban park?
“Yes, because he has another vocation.”
But don’t you say that Springsteen in Ferrara wasn’t a great coup?
“Of course I say it. The event was more than anything else the result of personal relationships, a tourist product was not created, a long-term project was missing.”
What do you think of the Summer festival?
“Too long and there are artists you can see within 50 kilometres. That’s fine, but let’s not say they bring you tourists who stay overnight. You have to do events for citizens, but calibrating everything and becoming attractive for the whole economy”.
What if I tell you Diamond Palace?
“I would bring the Ferrara Arte Foundation back under the control of the Municipality because it guarantees transparency in the management and use of funds, which does not mean interference. A national or international competition for the appointment of the director. Without forgetting that in December 2025 it will be 30 years since UNESCO recognition and that there should already be an exhibition planned”.
