Even the walls know by now that the history of territorial continuity from the Marche is turbulent. But there is also no doubt that, since the advent of SkyAlps last April 1st, the situation has definitely improved. Yet another incredible thing has happened in the last few hours. Exactly on the night of June 2nd, when the agreed “changeover” between the Dash Q-400 and the ATR was expected. In fact, the new aircraft departing from Tallinn airport and heading to Ancona International Airport would have suffered a problem shortly before touching the landing strip on Falconara soil. According to initial reconstructions, a component of the aircraft itself broke. A circumstance which, therefore, yesterday forced the South Tyrolean company to cancel outward and return flights to Milan and Naples. However, things went well for the passengers to Rome, so the flight to the capital continued to be operated with the previous plane. All the other passengers, however, were on the ground and also behind schedule. In particular, those traveling to the Lombardy capital for work were transferred to the station to then take the first available train. There is also good news in this tragicomic story: last night, the replacement part arrived at its destination and the workers worked without interruption to allow the ATR to fly. Barring any last minute problems, today we should depart regularly from Ancona. But the conditional, at this point in the story, is absolutely obligatory. The change of aircraft, from a larger one like the Dash Q-400 to a smaller ATR and probably more functional for the continuity operation to and from the Marche region, was necessary to make the routes more sustainable in the summer period , also in consideration of the numbers of passengers recorded in these first weeks of the new service. Yesterday, unfortunately, there was a false start in the 2.0 phase with SkyAlps, after a start which in two months had recorded a lot of positive feedback and general user satisfaction. The Bolzano-based carrier, which took over from Aeroitalia in emergency after the procedure opened by ENAC, had guaranteed 45 days of coverage, and then chose to continue until October. That month in which the final announcement should be published.
