In Marsala, funds for nursery schools: the “Bosco” case

Marsala is fully included in the National Plan for Nursery Schools promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit, in agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance. In fact, out of the total of 387 Italian municipalities admitted to financing, the municipal territory was given 11th place in the ranking, effectively receiving over 3 million euros. The two new nurseries will be built in Amabilina neighborhood (an expansion for a further 60 seats) e in the Bosco district for a total of 120 new places. In the latter case, the project had been completed by the previous Administration and the works should have started a year ago, as we reported in March 2023; then after September of the same year, there was no news of the interventions and it seems that the financing was also lost, as the former mayor Alberto Di Girolamo also declared.

The topic reached the City Council where, between opposing positions, the hypothesis was raised that due to a possible loss of funding due to bureaucratic non-compliance, the nursery school in the Bosco district, which was supposed to cover a good part of the northern side of the city, had no chance of being activated. The Special Office for the implementation of the Pnrr, directed by Alessandro Putaggio, is now awaiting the issuance of the ministerial decree for the accreditation of resources – as stated in a press note released by the Municipality of Marsala – in order to start the award procedures, for which the deadline is set for next October.
