“Kaleidoscope-Traces” arrives at the Visconti Castle, a pictorial art exhibition organized by the Administration in collaboration with the Brera Academy.

The exhibition of the students of the School of Painting of the Brera Academy has been inaugurated

The exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday 1 June; were present at the press conference to present the exhibition Guido Bragatocouncilor for culture, e Franco Marrocco, professor of the Academy. With it, the cultural partnership between the city of Legnano and the Brera School of Painting is consolidated for the second consecutive year.

Bragato stated:

«We are hosting a valuable exhibition at the Castle. It thus also becomes a place of artistic production. Thanks to the Academy for the attention given to Legnano.”

The works of 55 students are on display, including nine from the Erasmus project

“Traces” is the synthesis of the educational path of this academic year with exhibition purposes, where the School of Painting is characterized by heterogeneity of research and places students in a dialectical relationship with places, spaces and realities outside the classrooms, beyond the walls of Brera.

The exhibition was born from an agreement stipulated between the Brera Academy and the Municipality of Legnano, for the realization of cultural projects, exhibitions and meetings for contemporary art and takes place in the extraordinary environments of the Visconti Castle. Once again, the students have the opportunity to verify the research undertaken during the course of studies by finalizing their realization into a site-specific exhibition: one or more works conceived as interventions, capable of combining the main themes of art contemporary with local culture and art. Specifically, Tracce aims to be a reference to the «genius loci» of the territory.

The team made up of professors Archangel Esposito, Franco Marrocco, Daniela Moro, Maria Tcholakova selected the students with their works and coordinated the various phases of the project. The exhibition presents the work of 46 students plus 9 students of the Erasmus project (students from European countries), taking into account the characteristics of space, painting, photography, sculpture, drawing. The students worked and investigated the cultural legacies and identifying traces of the Visconti Castle and the reality of the city of Legnano which is celebrating its Centenary.

Professor Marrocco explained:

«The students exhibiting in this exhibition were not chosen because they are the best, but because their works are most suited to the context. I thank Legnano for making the spaces of the Castle available to us: conceiving the works for a specific space is certainly an added value.”
