Table tennis X has invaded the Magliano Sabina sports festival

Rome, 3 June. – The participation of the Italian Table Tennis Federation in the 6th edition of the Magliano Sabina Sports Festival yesterday had its highlight in the Table Tennis X tournament, the fun and inclusive discipline that uses wooden rackets, without rubber covers, and larger balls large and heavy compared to table tennis, which facilitate outdoor practice.

In the afternoon there was also space for free activity at the eight tables set up, thanks also to the collaboration of the FITeT Lazio Regional Committee, under the guidance of the federal technicians. There was no lack of promotion of the ITTF World Masters Table Tennis Championships Rome 2024 – presented by Stag Global, the Over 40 World Championships, which will take place at the Nuova Fiera di Roma from 7 to 14 July, with the presence of 6,100 athletes from 109 countries five continents. The review of sport, music, shows and food and wine was, in fact, chosen by FITeT as one of the stops on the tour, which aims to raise awareness of the world championship event.

Then it was the TTX that attracted the public’s attention, with an official tournament, in which 32 tennis players challenged each other, in the presence of the general secretary of FITeT, Giuseppe Marino, in distance matches of two sets out of three, lasting each lasting two minutes, starting from the qualifying groups and continuing with the direct elimination bracket. In the end Carlo Poeletti won, beating Luca Del Vescovo in the final. Third place ex aequo for Lorenzo Del Vescovo, Luca’s son, and Michele Mandosi.

Table tennis fits perfectly into the Sports Festival, sharing its objective of celebrating the value of sport as a tool for inclusion and social cohesion.

Hundreds of kids had fun holding a racket and the massive flow will continue today too, on the occasion of the final day, which will have as its particular point of interest the demonstration at 6pm. The protagonists will be the two athletes of the National Youth Teams Gioia Picu and Jacopo Cipriano , who live, study and train at the Terni Technical Center. The young champions will also be available for photos and moments of discussion.
