The rider market is moving, Jorge Martín will be the future Aprilia Racing rider from 2025 onwards

Martín, as per his request, will get on an official motorcycle and replace Aleix Espargaró, thus abandoning the Ducati orbit.

Jorge Martín’s appeal has been heard: the Madrid native, currently leader of the 2024 MotoGP championship, will become a factory rider in 2025. It was Aprilia that accepted the request of the rider, who will replace his friend Aleix Espargaró who is about to retire; the contract that binds the two parties is multi-year.

This is certainly an excellent market move by the Noale team, which will be able to add one of the three currently most competitive riders in MotoGP to its ranks. Martín, for his part, will leave the Ducati orbit after four years spent with the Pramac Racing team, after his requests to join the official team went unheeded.

“Martinator”, in this 2024, still has the opportunity to become the first rider of the MotoGP era to win with a private team, still leading the overall with 18 points ahead of Pecco Bagnaia and 35 over Marc Márquez. From next year, however, he will be the spearhead of Ducati’s main rival at the moment, with probably Maverick Viñales at his side (even if the Figueres rider has yet to make the renewal official).

Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, commented on the arrival of the #89 as follows: “An unstoppable path of growth, Jorge is a step towards achieving the goal we are all eagerly seeking in Aprilia Racing. Thanks to Dr. Michele Colaninno [membro del consiglio d’amministrazione del Gruppo Piaggio, n.d.r.] for this opportunity, we spoke last night and without wasting time we decided”.

At this point, the compass needle of the Ducati Lenovo team points towards Marc Márquez. After months of rumors and counter-rumours, the eight-time world champion now seems to be the natural candidate to obtain the saddle currently occupied by Enea Bastianini, as partner of the current world champion Bagnaia. For the “Beast”, however, there are rumors of a move to GasGas Tech3.
