Phases two and three of the redevelopment project of the former slaughterhouses are underway

While the first lot of the project which concerns the functional recovery of the building complex called “ex-Macelli” is being concluded, the works on the second and third lots are about to start within this week which will allow the total recovery of the property in question.

The project involves a new subdivision into three parts with the related intended uses.

There will therefore be:

– an Exhibition Hall which also functions as a covered urban passage between the external square and Via dei Macelli;
– the headquarters of the Municipal Police;
– a multipurpose cultural centre.

The objective of the project is twofold: to create functional, pleasant and bright environments within the building complex in relation to the new uses and to enhance the external façades and the historic walls to restore dignity and pleasantness to the urban environment.

The external elements of the historic building that the project intends to enhance are above all:
– the façades of the building, of which it is intended to revive the original decoration,
– the perception of the walls, even from inside the buildings themselves, eliminating, where possible, the plasters and coverings that cover their surfaces,
– the articulation of the various merged volumes.

Inside, the main objective is to give brightness, functionality and comfort to the various environments, also restoring the unity of the volumes
original, currently divided by various partitions built over time.

1,900,000 euros, of which 1,700,000 euros is currently financed by the PNRR, is the amount of the works for these second and third lots.
