Initiative of Cesar, the training center of Confartigianato Imprese Vicenza, for an internship aimed at those who intend to become professional drivers

The shortage of drivers across Europe is now glaring and has a huge impact on supply chains, trade and the real economy as a whole. The phenomenon concerns both the transport of goods for third parties and the transport of passengers.

“There are many barriers that stand between young people and the world of road transport – underlines Sonia Tessari, president of the Logistics, Tourist and Business Transport System -; one is the economic one, so much so that the average cost of obtaining professional licenses and qualifications can reach, depending on the case, up to 5,000 euros. In fact, for years we have been asking for subsidies for the training of professional drivers to obtain a professional driving license/professional training, aimed in particular at young and unemployed people”.

Confartigianato Imprese Vicenza, through its training body CESAR SRL, presents a new initiative dedicated to companies in the logistics and transport sector. With the IFTS “Specialists for Tomorrow” project, companies can train and recruit new professional drivers, thus responding to the growing demand for qualified personnel.

Starting from October, companies will be able to welcome trainees for a total of 400 hours, benefiting from complete training which includes obtaining the necessary licenses (CE+CQC for goods transport and DE+CQC for passenger transport). This program, supported by the Veneto Region through DGR 561, offers two professional profiles: road transport operator and driver of private passenger transport vehicles.

The profile of the road haulage operator includes specific skills in carrying out road freight transport, managing communications and service documents, ordinary vehicle maintenance and planning of transport operations. The driver of private means of passenger transport, however, is specialized in the management of safety procedures, operation of the means of transport, service relationships with customers and ensuring the optimal and safe conditions of the vehicle. Interested companies will simply have to identify an internal company tutor to supervise the interns.

“This initiative – concludes the president – aims to fill the skills gap in the sector, offering high-level training and inserting highly qualified personnel directly into companies. We therefore hope that Vicenza companies will flock en masse and join this important training course.”

The deadline to join is 10 June 2024. Companies can express their interest and choose the profile best suited to their needs by filling out the form available HERE.

Confartigianato Imprese Vicenza invites all companies in the road haulage sector to seize this opportunity to train and recruit new driver personnel, thus guaranteeing a safer and more competent future for the sector.
