MATERA – Great tension today in Matera: in via Giustino Fortunato, near via Lucana, someone has abandoned a large trolley under a building in a difficult to reach position. After the call to 112, the Carabinieri and the police forces intervened, coordinated by the Prefect on the occasion of the Christmas holidays. Madonna of the Brown.

Once the alarm was raised, the Carabinieri of the Operations Department and the Company of Matera they mobilized by requesting the immediate intervention of their Bomb Squad from Potenza, the Fire Department and a 118 ambulance, taking steps to reach the area that in the meantime had already been isolated by a Radiomobile patrol to prevent the passage of people and vehicles, also contacting the residents of the building where the trolley was located to have them close the windows and move away from the openings adjacent to the intervention area. The Bomb Squad immediately got to work, moving the trolley with tie rods to the street, where it was first inspected with the robot provided, and then proceeding to carry out a check of the contents using an X-ray device provided.

Fortunately it was discovered that the trolley only contained old abandoned clothes, without being able to trace the owner of the same, so, once the alarm had ceased, steps were taken to reopen the road to traffic and the trolley was delivered to the lost property office of the Municipality of Matera.

The Carabinieri continue to maintain maximum vigilance during these festive days, especially in order to allow the people of Matera and tourists to enjoy the feast of the Madonna della Bruna in complete tranquility.
