A historic success, colored in yellow and blue. The sports news in Trieste last week was full of stories, including that of the A. Volta Technical Institute which, surprisingly, won the team title (Students category) at the Italian Student Athletics Championships on the track. In the Italian event, staged in Pescara and dedicated to 1st and 2nd degree institutes, Volta collected 26 points ahead of IIS Pascal Comandini from Romagna (31) and Federico Enriques from Livorno (33). A team of friends, of which 5 members are part of Asd Trieste Atletica, excluding the sixth member of the team, the pitcher Tomsic. The Trieste team was led by Alessio Rusconi, capable of impressing in the 100hs. Rusconi, after 13.42 in the heat, ran in 13.01 in the semi-final and then won the silver medal in the final with a time of 12.99, just three hundredths behind the winner, Bertini from Livorno. Sprinter Brian Maggio also confirmed himself well, reaching the final of the queen 100m race, running the semi-final in 11.33, and then taking 7th place overall in 11.48. Gabriele Bochdanovits De Kavna also achieved a good placing, 9th in the long jump with a measurement of 5.93m, and the middle distance runner Tommaso Gerbec, 12th in the 1000m with a time of 2:40.12. Finally, Matteo Trizza, 19th in the high jump with a measurement of 1.75m and Vittorio Giacomo Tomsic (8.83m), involved in the shot put, also contributed to the great collective performance.

The conduct of Volta’s 4×100, Bochdanovits-Rusconi-Trizza-Maggio, was also superb, finishing 7th in 45.20. But, in Abruzzo, the company chaired by Pompeo Tria was also able to celebrate yet another success of Leo Oumar Domenis and other important results. The Carducci-Dante sprinter dominated the 100m scene with an authoritative attitude: 10.70 in the heat, 10.82 in the semi-final and in the final the sixteen-year-old finished in 10.89, winning the Allievi title.

In the high jump Giulio Manzin (Galilei), however, took 4th place with a measurement of 1.91m, while Raffaele Selleri (Galilei) placed 12th in 2:41.61 over 1000m. Over the weekend, however, the Trofeo Trieste returned and proposed the 5th Test, the 45th Napoleonica organized by the Asd CRAL Trieste Trasporti in memory of Giorgio Braico.

Trieste Atletica achieved the greatest satisfaction over the 7.2km, with the start and finish set up near the Marian Temple of Monte Grisa, dedicated to men. In fact, the success went to an irrepressible Daniele Torrico, who set himself apart from the first meter, finishing his effort after 24:31. The 32-year-old from Trieste preceded Fabio Galassi (Atletica Imola Sacmi Avis, 26:01) and another representative of Trieste Atletica, Luca Bertocchi, who took his place on the third step of the podium with a time of 26:12.

Also noteworthy is the fifth place achieved by another Trieste Atletica standard bearer, Omar Giorgio Makhloufi (26:35).

Sunday, dedicated to Republic Day, was also the scene of the 18th Atletica 2000 Meeting, which took place in San Vito al Tagliamento (PN). In the 100m Leo Oumar Domenis continued to express himself at his levels, running in 10.77 and missing out on reaching the final by just four hundredths. Also in the main race, Angelo Zhu and Morgan Leoni performed in 11.19 and 11.53 respectively.

In the high jump Alessandro Castaldo finished 8th, with a measurement of 1.92m, ahead of his teammate Nicola Leonardo Lenoci (1.80m). In the 5000m, Federico Fragiacomo (14:28.23) and Federico Cernaz (15:20.92) performed well. There was a large representation of Trieste Atletica also in the 800m, in which the best was Niccolò Galimi, 12th with a time of 1:50.07, in the race in which three other yellow and blues were involved: Giulio Massimo Romano (1:53.84), Cristian Starec ( 1:55.29) and Andrea Scremin (2:10.53). Finally, in the 400m, Lorenzo Masucci clocked 52.00
