The municipal council was held in the Luisi Room with an agenda focused on two points of discussion: the appointment of Santo Alessandro Raso in place of the new councilor Annalisa Spinelli and the agreement for the construction of the Borgo Antico in via del Progresso, subsequently to a ruling by the Council of State which closed a 22-year-long affair.

The minority raised doubts regarding listening to the trade associations and proposed postponing the discussion for further discussion with the commercial front opposed to the Icom investment.

However, the majority reiterated the legality of the project and rejected the possibility of postponing the decision.

During the session, amendments were presented by the minority which provided for changes to the text of the convention, including the obligation of equipped public green areas, greater controls and guarantees for the maintenance of the areas.

After a long discussion and several votes, the text of the convention was finally approved with 13 votes in favour, 6 abstentions and 1 against.

Once the agreement has been approved, it will be necessary to proceed with the notarial deed and the presentation of the executive projects by Icom to obtain the building authorization.

The majority underlined the importance of respecting the deadlines and legal constraints envisaged, while the minority expressed its disappointment at the limited margins for intervention granted during the discussion.

In conclusion, the city council approved the agreement for the construction of the Borgo Antico, marking an important step forward for the project and for the development of the area.
