The Social Theater of Como AsLiCo announces the passing of Giovanna Lomazzi
The Teatro Sociale di Como AsLiCo announces with great regret the passing of Giovanna Lomazzipresent for more than 30 years in the AsLiCo family and Vice President since 2000.
A woman of great culture, passionate and enthusiastic, she dedicated her life to the world of opera. There are numerous young opera singers whom she supported in undertaking this difficult career.
For years, President of the Jury of the AsLiCo Competition, he listened to countless emerging voices who then took flight, singing in the greatest theaters in the world.
Always very elegant, kind and at the same time austere, her name is known in all opera circles, which have often seen her as a guest at competitions and premières in Italy and Europe.
“With emotion I think back to the thousands of auditions that Giovanna and I did, both during the 16 editions of the AsLiCo Competition in which we were in the Commission together, and in those that we periodically organized for the choice of singers for the AsLiCo productions. – tells John Vegeto, General Director – Always attentive, always competent, always on the singer’s side, ready to find a positive aspect even in the less happy performances. Her infinite passion for singing has always led her to endure, without any effort, hours and hours of listening, even in recent years when her health began to give her some problems. She, who had listened to the most exciting performances of the golden age of opera, rejoiced and was moved by a young man who, having arrived to be heard with a suitcase full of hopes and doubts, saw his commitment and talent crowned by the applause of the audience. You will be missed not only by me, my family and our colleagues, dear Giovanna, but also by the entire world of opera.”

BIOGRAPHY
Always interested in classical music and in particular in the world of opera, Giovanna Lomazzi has collaborated in various musical institutions with managerial roles, press offices and public relations. She studied piano and is an expert in operatic vocals. She has participated as a juror in various singing competitions both in Italy and abroad and has held vocal interpretation courses. Communication and Marketing Office Teatro Sociale di Como AsLiCo – Via Vincenzo Bellini 3, 22100 Como Since 1980 he has also worked in managerial, press office and public relations roles at various festivals, including: Festival dei due mondo in Spoleto, Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago, Cantiere di Montepulciano, as well as several shorter appearances in other prestigious institutions, including: Sagra Umbra, Ravello Festival, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Since 2000 she has been Vice-President of the Teatro Sociale di Como-AsLiCo, with which she has been the first organizer of the Competition for Young Opera Singers of Europe, now in its 76th edition. In 1953, after a performance at the Teatro alla Scala, she had the opportunity to meet Maria Callas: from then on, a relationship of great friendship and solidarity began which would allow her to follow the illustrious artist and be close to her in the fundamental stages of her career and of her life.
