The 2024 Italian Master Championships, the highlight of the 2023/2024 competitive season, concluded in Verona last weekend. The Rubicone Sword Academy was represented by two athletes: Augusto Marcuccio and Federico Salvetti, category 2 men’s sword and category 0 men’s sword respectively.

The fencer Federico Salvetti, out of 78 participating athletes, ranked 28th after performing an excellent performance in the groups, winning 4 out of 5 matches; in the live broadcasts, Federico beat his opponent Rangone 10-5 and lost the following match by 10 hits to 7 in the scoreboard of 32, one step away from entering the 16.

Federico demonstrated both a great athletic preparation, thanks to the athletic trainer Nazario Dell’Accio, and a very good fencing technique, thanks to the training in the hall with the instructor of the Rubicone sword academy, Rares Georgescu.

Augusto Marcuccio, President of the Rubicone Sword Academy, ranked 32nd out of 82 participating athletes in Sunday’s competition. After the groups, Augusto brilliantly overcame his opponent Lupano (5th in the initial ranking) 10 to 4 in the second live match, then stopping in the scoreboard of 32 in a match, however, with a high technical profile.

Overall, the two standard bearers of the Rubicone Sword Academy achieved excellent results, the result of the training carried out during this competitive year and which repays them for the sacrifices made.
