The very young Martina Fantini arrives under the basket of the new Faenza Basket Project.
Martina was born on 7 September 2005 and grew up, basketball-wise, in the very strong youth sector of Basket Roma where she won youth championships and a historic promotion to A2.
Championship which saw her dominate with 12 points and 8 rebounds on average.
With her 192 cm, Martina chooses number 7 to start this new and first experience in the top Italian championship.
Here are Martina’s first words in the Faenza shirt:
“I already knew Coach Seletti since he coached with Costa and we had had some contact in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised by his call because I didn’t expect interest from Faenza this year.
The A1 championship is a new reality for me, I expect to work and improve a lot, testing myself day after day with more experienced players from whom I have a lot to learn.
Faenza is a reality that attracts me both because I like the Faenza basketball environment both outside and inside the field, and because the city is very liveable, let’s say on a human scale, so I am very eager to start and test myself .
My personal goals are to grow as a player by gaining the coach’s trust on the pitch. I know this is my first experience in A1 but I am very determined to assert myself and demonstrate my playing qualities. As for the team objectives, I haven’t talked about it with the coach yet, but I believe that the primary objective is to have a good championship and demonstrate our qualities on the pitch, then we’ll see what the season holds.”
