Milan | Porta Venezia + Loreto – Redevelopment of Corso Buenos Aires: new green obstacle

Milan Porta Venezia Loreto. Neverending story for the redevelopment of Corso Buenos Aires, apparently, a few days after the start of the construction site, there seems to be a design inconsistency underway due to the presence of two projects underway that do not communicate with each other.

On the one hand there is the original redevelopment plan which involves the use of potted plants. On the other hand, there is a new, more ambitious project for the vegetation, which includes more lush nature, with even 3 or 4 meter tall trees and large stone basins. At the moment, however, the two projects are not yet integrated and the construction sites, which should begin by the end of the month, appear to have not yet been coordinated.

The problem with this design inconsistency is the following: the first works will begin in front of the Baires Courts, between via Petrela and via Pergolesi, where they will be carried out by private individuals in exchange for costs. In this area, the authorized project remains the original one presented and approved a few years ago, which includes simple potted plants. This solution was chosen to avoid displeasing traders who were worried that trees that were too tall and thick could obscure their shop windows.

However, the planning stages have progressed and the Council’s subsequent plan for the remainder of the course now includes bolder vegetation.

The vegetation, which will fill the space between the sidewalks and the cycle path, will have higher tops and will be placed in large stone basins.

The Municipality is looking for a solution to standardize the differences during the works without further delaying the start of the construction sites. «We are certain that Palazzo Marino is doing everything possible to resolve this discrepancy. The Municipality’s new project is innovative and will definitively transform Corso Buenos Aires. We are sure that once the work is finished, everyone will be more satisfied”, says Luigi Ferrario, president of Real Baires.
