The match ended with a 2-1 result in favor of the Venetian team coached by Stefano Vecchi who thus gained access to the final to conquer the last place in the next Serie B championship.

A fiery match, especially after the controversies of the Campania team following the first leg: which ended with a 0-0 result, the green and whites complained about some refereeing choices, raising a media fuss in the days preceding the return match. And on the occasion of the match played at the ‘Romeo Menti’ stadium, the atmosphere was immediately fiery, with the stands very full and hot.

The reason? From the visitors’ sector, a lot of objects were thrown onto the pitch, in particular smoke bombs and firecrackers. An interruption which also annoyed the green and white players themselves and which led the referee to grant a maxi-recovery of 7 minutes at the end of which Avellino was eliminated after reopening the match with a penalty converted by striker Patierno in a fiery final of the match, with one expulsion on each side. Moments of tension were also reported in the stands after the second goal and in the frenetic final seconds of the match.
